I was diagnosed with Stage 2b Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in March of 2014. I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction and went through 8 rounds of chemotherapy. In July of 2019, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer after fighting for my doctors to listen to me regarding my severe back pain. Two years after my initial diagnosis, I applied for a job at the Penn State Health Breast Center. I knew I wanted to help other young women going through the same things I did. I wanted to be a sign of hope for them. I have been working for the Penn State Hershey Breast Center for the past 4 years. I enjoy working there and helping the other young women that come through our doors. It helps them to know there are women out there just like them going through this tough time in their life. I love spending time with my husband of 14 years, my 12-year-old daughter, and our 2 pugs. I am excited about being a RISE advocate. I’ve been volunteering for YSC for several years including starting a Face 2 Face network in my community and also serving as a State Leader. I have also been fundraising for YSC for the past 5 years by riding in Tour de Pink!
