Inspired by her diagnosis to turn her tragedy into purpose, Marquita is more than excited to serve as a RISE Advocate. From the start of her journey, Marquita was intent on using her journey to help others. Marquita is the author of a Children and adult book for Breast Cancer patients and their families. In both of her books, titled “ BK’s Mommy Has Breast Cancer!” and “Cry, Learn, Adjust, Fight, and Repeat!” She offers advice, hope, tips, and insight to those facing a Breast Cancer diagnosis. Marquita believes no one should ever fight alone. Her goal is to be a resource for women facing a Breast Cancer diagnosis. She is motivated to use this opportunity to not only increase awareness of Breast Cancer for young women but for young women of color who face different obstacles and challenges when diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Marquita has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science & International relations from Morgan State University, a Paralegal certificate from Georgetown University, and a Master’s in Management with a concentration in Public Relations from the University of Maryland. Marquita is looking forward to using her education, experience, and Breast Cancer journey to be an active advocate for Breast Cancer patients and survivors.
