Young Survival Coalition To Host May 16 In Living Pink
Annual NYC Gala Benefits Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer
New York, New York (May 14, 2012) — With dozens of fantastic galas taking place this month, New Yorkers might find it difficult to choose which events to attend. Those looking to support the breast cancer cause, young women affected by breast cancer, or just for a fun evening of high-end charitable gaming for luxurious prizes, should look no further than the Young Survival Coalition’s 11th annual In Living Pink Grand Salon: Monte Carlo Casino Game Night.
Hosted by Chris Wragge of CBS News and quickly gaining recognition as one of the liveliest events of the spring gala season, In Living Pink will take place at Capitale on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. With doors opening at 7 p.m., the night will include great music, a top-shelf open bar, delicious food, a dynamic crowd, and the opportunity to support a great cause.
Young Survival Coalition (YSC), founded in 1998 by young survivors for young survivors, provides free programs, education and resources to address every phase of a young woman’s breast cancer experience. “Young women with breast cancer face a variety of issues that differ from their older counterparts, including more aggressive cancers, fertility challenges, financial instability and higher mortality rates,” said Jennifer Merschdorf, Chief Executive Officer of YSC. “The vital funds raised at this event will enable YSC to continue delivering high-quality national programs and services that address these unique needs.”
This not-to-be-missed evening will feature exciting table games including Blackjack, Double Roulette, Craps and Texas Hold ‘em. Revelers can also enter a raffle for generously donated prizes, such as stays at the Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces in India, the Westin in Dublin, Ireland, a Riviera Maya vacation at beautiful Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Mexico and jewelry from Tiffany & Co. Tickets can be purchased online until midnight on Tuesday, May 15.
The evening will see Lisa J. Frank, YSC Board President, Founding Member, three-time breast cancer survivor and Co-Founder of Tour de Pink®, honored with the Kristen Martinez Legacy Award. This award is given for extraordinary volunteerism and dedication to YSC’s mission to ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone. Lisa, who has served on YSC’s Board in various roles since 1999, has worked diligently to raise funds and awareness for the cause, including successfully recruiting her employer, ADP, as a long-time corporate sponsor. In addition to mobilizing resources and support for YSC, in 2004 Lisa launched the inaugural YSC Tour de Pink East Coast ride that inspired six cyclists to pedal from Boston to New York City to generate money and remind everyone that young women can and do get breast cancer … and she did it while facing a recurrence of Stage II breast cancer. Tour de Pink now includes four annual rides and raises more than $1 million a year for YSC.
The In Living Pink event will also acknowledge corporate honorees Genomic Health and Dunnan Edell, Chief Executive Officer and President of CCA Industries, Inc., with the YSC Circle of Excellence Award for outstanding support and dedication to YSC and its mission. Genomic Health is a global company focused on the development and commercialization of genomic-based clinical laboratory services that analyze the underlying biology of cancer, allowing physicians and patients around the world to make individualized treatment decisions. CCA develops, manufactures and markets high quality innovative, health and beauty care products. YSC will also thank two Pink Sapphire Sponsors, Genomic Health and Emergen-C flavored fizzy vitamin drink mixes. Benefitting breast cancer charities since 2007, Emergen-C Pink has raised more than $500,000 for the cause and is a proud supporter of YSC.
