Hershey To Donate $250,000 in Partnership with the YSC to Raise Awareness of Breast Cancer

New York, NY - (June 14, 2006)

Hershey Turns Pink To Support the Cause This October –
Limited Edition YORK Patties, Nuggets and Kisses Honor
Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hershey's iconic York Peppermint Pattie, indulgent Nuggets and classic Kisses will debut an exciting new color this October – pink. The Limited Edition Pink collection will encourage women everywhere to live well and support breast cancer awareness. In addition, York, Nuggets and Kisses will make a $250,000 donation to the Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the only international, non-profit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters dedicated to the concerns and issues that are unique to young women and breast cancer.

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with The Hershey Company and the York, Nuggets and Kisses brands to raise awareness of the fact that young women can and do get breast cancer," said YSC CEO Michele Przypyszny. "With the additional support of the Nuggets and Kisses brands, the YSC will reach even more young women affected by the disease and continue to provide vital programs and services for this underserved population."

"Last year, York Peppermint Pattie was the first Hershey product to go pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month," said Michele Buck, Chief Marketing Officer for The Hershey Company. "This year, Hershey will once again show its support of this important cause by adding Nuggets and Kisses to the line-up of brands that will turn pink this October. We are proud to increase our commitment to the YSC and its mission by doubling last year's donation of $125,000 to $250,000."

The Limited Edition Pink collection will be available nationwide beginning in August. Each package will feature information on the YSC as well as The Hershey Company's commitment to the breast cancer cause.

A dynamic group of young survivors and supporters, the Young Survival Coalition is the only international non-profit dedicated to the critical concerns and issues unique to young women affected by breast cancer. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women age 15 – 40 (NCI). Through action, advocacy and awareness, the YSC seeks to increase the quality and quantity of life for all young women affected by breast cancer by educating the medical, research, breast cancer and legislative communities and influencing them to address the incidence of the disease in women 40 and under. In addition, the YSC serves as a point of contact and source of support for young women affected by the disease.

To further build awareness and promote the well being of women nationwide, The Hershey Company will be sponsoring the second annual YSC York Tour de Pink bike ride. The four-day event is designed to raise awareness and hope for young women affected by breast cancer nationwide. In addition, Hershey will also be a sponsor of the YSC In Living Pink event, designed to honor the work of the YSC and help raise awareness about breast cancer and its risks in young women.

About the Young Survival Coalition
The Young Survival Coalition was founded in 1998 by three women diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 32 who were discouraged by the lack of information available to young women diagnosed with the disease. With revenue over $1.5 million, close to 13,000 constituents, 10 staff people and eight affiliates, the YSC works to change the face of breast cancer by advocating for more research on young women and breast cancer and providing this underserved population with programs and services specific to them. The YSC also provides a peer-support network of survivors as well as vital resources to decrease the sense of isolation felt by young women affected by breast cancer.
