Beth Diagnosed at 34
Beth is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. After high school she joined the Air Force. She now lives in the Columbia, SC area. Beth was a security police officer in the United States Air Force and her primary weapon was a 60 Machine Gun. After the Air Force, she was in mobile home sales for six years. For the past twelve years, she has been an Underwriter in the Insurance Industry. Beth has been at BlueCross/BlueShield of SC/Companion Life and has been underwriting group and individual health insurance. Currently, she is underwriting all of the ancillary products to include, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, and LTD policies.
Beth attended and completed her Bachelors of Business Administration while going through breast cancer at Webster University. She was diagnosed at 34 with no family history. She was stage 3C, had chemo therapy, radiation, six surgeries, a year of Herceptin, she is still taking tamoxifen. Beth is now a 6 ½ year Survivor. Beth is surviving and thriving in her community.
Beth is currently working on her MBA. She is married, with no children of her own, but has two beautiful children by marriage. Beth rides a 2014 Black and Pink Harley Davidson Soft Tail Deluxe. She tries to live and make the most out of each day. Beth states, after going through cancer, it changes you! Beth is now a volunteer and State Leader for the Young Survival Coalition. YSC helps Beth to help others that are newly diagnosed so they don’t have to face cancer alone; because young women can and do get breast cancer.
Beth hopes to be working in a field where she can continue to do what she is passionate about. Beth feels with hope, love, and faith…..anything is possible.
