Bi-coastal, 200-mile Bike Rides Raise Awareness and Funds

New York, New York (June 15, 2017) - — Each year, more than 12,000 young women aged 40 and under are diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. This October, riders in YSC Tour de Pink® will cycle along both coasts to show their support for this unique population.

The East Coast ride kicks off Friday, October 6 outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and ends Sunday, October 8 in Long Branch, New Jersey. Riders will travel 211 miles through historic Princeton and Asbury Park, New Jersey.

The West Coast ride begins Friday, October 27 in Westlake Village, California and ends Sunday, October 29 in Santa Monica. Riders will journey 207 miles through Santa Barbara and Ventura.

Tour de Pink is a fundraising event of Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the premier nonprofit dedicated to young women with breast cancer. The funds raised will help educate, empower and connect the more than 250,000 young American women who have faced breast cancer.

Now in its 13th year, Tour de Pink has generated more than $8 million. Tour de Pink is more than just a bike ride: it’s a “rolling community” of survivors, partners, family and friends who find support and empowerment in Tour de Pink.

Survivor Lynn Pekmezian says of the event: “Tour de Pink always is such an emotional, exhilarating weekend -- it really lifts me up and empowers me!”

About Young Survival Coalition (YSC) ®

Established in 1998, Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier organization dedicated to young women with breast cancer. Founded by three young survivors, YSC began as a grassroots organization to advocate on behalf of all young women diagnosed with breast cancer to increase their length and quality of life. Based in New York City, with networks nationwide, YSC provides free resources, connections and educational materials so young women with breast cancer feel supported, empowered and hopeful. YSC seeks to educate and influence the medical, research and legislative communities to address breast cancer in young women, and to ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone.
