Who We Are
Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. YSC offers resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful.
A Circle Grows From Three: YSC Background
Young Survival Coalition (YSC) was founded in 1998 by three young women who were under the age of 35 when diagnosed. They were discouraged by the lack of resources available and the underrepresentation of young women in breast cancer research. Today, YSC is the go-to organization for young women facing a breast cancer diagnosis.
Facing Challenges Together
YSC helps young women stand strong against the many unique challenges our population faces. Among other services, YSC:
- Provides information, resources and support from diagnosis through long-term survivorship;
- Educates and empowers young women to be their own best health advocate;
- Works with healthcare providers, researchers and legislators to educate them about the unique issues young women face,
- Advocates for more studies on breast cancer in young women and access to quality care.
Through it all, YSC helps women find meaning, comfort and hope during one of the most challenging experiences of their lives.
YSC Diversity Statement
YSC is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming community to everyone. YSC does not discriminate. Our Diversity Program aims to make YSC a place where women of all backgrounds can come together—women of color, women who partner with women, and women of various socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures and disabilities. To better serve all women, YSC hosts an online diverse community and partners with organizations that provide resources to people from specific backgrounds .
