The women of YSC San Diego know firsthand the roller coaster of emotions, the confusion of options and the difficulties of treatments that accompany a breast cancer diagnosis. YSC San Diego was established when three young breast cancer survivors met at the 2006 YSC Annual Conference in Colorado. They were concerned about other young women diagnosed with breast cancer and the availability of resources specific to young women in San Diego. Their experience showed them breast cancer impacts young women differently.
YSC San Diego was established to address young women's concerns of infertility, young children, genetics, body image, reconstruction options, dating, marriage etc. through education and support groups. If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, you are not alone.

Join us for a support group meeting to chat with other young women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer in person!
Young Women's Support Group
The Scripps Polster Breast Care Center offers support groups for young women throughout San Diego County at all stages of the breast cancer experience. Held on the Scripps Memorial Hospital campus in La Jolla. For more information, please email Bev Mangerich at yscsandiego@youngsurvival.org. Meetings take place the first Tuesday of the month for lunch, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and the third Tuesday of the month, 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Young Women's Metastatic Support Group
This group meets the second Tuesday of the month from 12:00–1:00 p.m. at The Scripps Polster Breast Care Center and addresses the unique concerns faced by young women with metastatic breast cancer.
Under 40 with Cancer Support Group
This group provides support and socialization for patients in their 20s and 30s with any type of cancer diagnosis. Meetings are at the Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion. To learn more, visit their website or call Cara Allen, MSW, LCSW, at 858.939.5015. These meetings take place Mondays 6:30–8:30 p.m.
The Young Breast Cancer Patient Education and Psychotherapy Group
This group meets once a week for eight weeks at Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center. Please contact Danielle Casden, PhD 858.822.6201, if you are interested in participating.
YSC Networking Meeting
If you are interested in volunteering with YSC San Diego, join us at our monthly business meetings the first Tuesday of every month. We'll discuss upcoming events, planning and volunteer opportunities while catching up with our fellow survivors. We meet at the Scripps Polster Breast Care Center, on the Scripps Memorial Hospital campus in La Jolla. Local Breast Cancer Survivor Launches Yoga for Cancer Recovery DVD
Claire Petretti, yoga instructor and breast cancer survivor, is excited to announce the launch of her DVD Yoga for Cancer Recovery in October 2011. Claire designed this program specifically for someone going through cancer treatment or recovery.
