The Young Survival Coalition's Research Agenda was created in 2004 in conjunction with the organization's Medical Advisory Board (MAB) to help focus the YSC's research and advocacy efforts. The areas of focus will be used to guide YSC's core purpose to increase the quantity and quality of life for all young women affected by breast cancer. The YSC's Research Agenda outlines broad research areas and more specific topics that the YSC and the Medical Advisory Board view as critical to moving research on breast cancer and young women forward.

The Agenda is the culmination of three years of work following a scientific medical symposium held in 2001, where the YSC assembled a group of seven leading physicians/researchers in different fields of expertise in the care, research and treatment of pre-menopausal women affected by breast cancer. A representative from each specialty gave an update on current research, the gaps in research and how the YSC can work to close these gaps. The resulting White Paper was reviewed by members of the YSC's Medical Advisory Board, who then ranked and prioritized the areas they believed were the most critical to improve the diagnosis and care of young women affected by breast cancer.

It is important for the medical and research communities to see the young face of breast cancer. The YSC has presented its Research Agenda Development poster in local, national and international conferences and symposia as well as being a regular presence at these important meetings. The YSC continues to develop initiatives to reach out to and collaborate with the many facets of the medical community as a demonstration of our continued commitment to action, advocacy and awareness. In addition, YSC works closely with an interdisciplinary team of leaders in the breast cancer field, YSC's Medical Advisory Board, to move the mission of the organization forward with medically sound information and encouraging their ongoing commitment to young women affected by breast cancer.
