Philadelphia

YSC Philadelphia ConstituentsYSC of Greater Philadelphia was started in February of 2007 by two young survivors from Bucks County who wanted to reduce the sense of isolation felt by young women with breast cancer by building a strong community of young survivors in the local area. Since then, our group has grown significantly. We now reach and serve Philadelphia and surrounding counties, the Lehigh Valley and South Jersey.

We serve as a point of contact for newly diagnosed young women, providing Newly Diagnosed Resource Kits (NDRKs), connections to other young women and peer support through six monthly informal networking meetings throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. We distribute educational information to the medical community, host educational and social programs for survivors and their families and embrace the goal of educating the community on the reality of breast cancer in young women.

We welcome young women at all stages of their breast cancer journey. Whether you are newly diagnosed, a long-term survivor or living with advanced disease, YSC of Greater Philadelphia has a place for you. Together, we can ensure that no young woman goes through breast cancer alone.

YSC of Greater Philadelpia awarded Komen GrantYSC Philadelphia Constituents

YSC of Greater Philadelphia is proud to have been selected as the recipient of a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Philadelphia affiliate. This grant will be used to provide young women with Newly Diagnosed Resource Kits (NDRKs) and Metastatic Navigators for young women living with advanced breast cancer. The grant will also cover the start of a support group for young women who have been diagnosed with metastatic disease. In addition, the grant will partially fund three educational programs to area nurse navigators where the Philadelphia affiliate will discuss who YSC is and what we provide for young women diagnosed with breast cancer. The goal of these educational programs is to increase awareness of YSC and to increase referrals by healthcare practitioners to YSC. These partnerships will help us reach our goal of ensuring that no young woman goes through breast cancer alone.
