Young Survival Coalition is in its 12th year of providing critical information, support and community to young women affected by breast cancer. The organization's headquarters have been located in New York City since its inception, but in 2009 YSC renewed its commitment to serving women in the New York metropolitan area by establishing a New York City affiliate.
YSC New York City supports and unites young women diagnosed with breast cancer through education and advocacy initiatives as well as support programs—from our monthly support group to workshops on hot topics like hormonal therapies, fertility and nutrition to "survivor reach-outs," where local YSC volunteers work together to help other survivors in need. YSC New York City is committed to fostering a welcoming, safe and diverse community of young women diagnosed with breast cancer and their supporters.

Women On Wednesdays
If you are a young woman affected by breast cancer, YSC New York City wants you to know that you are not alone. We're here to help. YSC NYC’s monthly support group—Women On Wednesdays—is getting a makeover! In order to better meet the needs of our constituents, beginning in March 2011 our young women's support group will be moving to two separate meetings. Choose the one that’s best for you—groups are free of charge and open to all young survivors.
Women On Wednesdays Newly Diagnosed/In Treatment Group:
This group is focused on the special needs of young women newly diagnosed with breast cancer or in treatment. Come to share, learn and get support from others who know exactly what you’re experiencing. Facilitated by Gabriela Höhn, Ph.D., a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice and a young breast cancer survivor. This group meets the first Wednesday of each month.
Upcoming 2011 Dates: July 6, August 3, September 7, October 5, November 2, December 7
Women On Wednesdays Post-Treatment Group:
Connect with and gain support from peers while sharing ways to cope with the emotional challenges of treatment and beyond. This group is led by trained peer facilitators and is designed for young survivors who have finished treatment and are exploring life issues on the other side. It meets the third Wednesday of each month.
Upcoming 2011 Dates: July 20, August 17, September 21, October 19, November 16, December 21
All meetings are held at 6:30 pm in YSC's main office at:
61 Broadway, Suite 2235 (between Rector Street and Exchange Place)
New York, NY

In 2010, YSC New York City partnered with SHARE (Self Help for Women with Breast and Ovarian Cancer) to present an exciting, year-long series of educational programs for young women affected by breast cancer, Young Women and Breast Cancer: The Empowerment Series. We are thrilled to be able to continue the Empowerment Series this year. By offering programs on vital topics such as nutrition, complementary and integrative medicine, financial and workplace issues, lymphedema, breast cancer and the environment, and fertility, YSC NYC and SHARE are working to empower young women to take charge of their health, get informed and live well.
Upcoming 2012 Empowerment Series Programs:
February 2--Long Term Effects of Cancer Treatment
The Empowerment Series is made possible through a generous grant to SHARE from the Beth C. Tortolani Foundation.
