Young Survival Coalition Receives Prestigious 4-Star Rating From Charity Navigator

New York, NY - (April 1, 2005)

The Young Survival Coalition (YSC) (www.youngsurvival.org), the only international, non-profit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters dedicated to the concerns and issues that are unique to young women and breast cancer, has announced that Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org), a premier independent charity evaluator, has awarded the YSC its highest honor, a four-star rating.

The four-star rating signifies that the YSC has exceeded industry standards and outperformed most charities in its cause with regard to prudent fiscal management and its ability to spend its funds efficiently to meet its mission.

"We are just delighted to have been awarded this 4-star rating," said Randi Rosenberg, President of the Young Survival Coalition. "The YSC funds many programs which bring awareness to the fact that young women can and do get breast cancer and which help young women affected by the disease improve their quality of life. This rating signals to all current and future donors that the YSC is fiscally responsible and that their dollars are being used in the most efficient way possible."

The YSC's programmatic efforts have increased over the past five years to include dozens of programs specific to young women affected by breast cancer, such as co-hosting the only Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer, conducting a teleconference series for young women with breast cancer, developing a comprehensive guidebook listing all the programs and services for young women affected by breast cancer, implementing programs for young women living with metastatic disease, creating a peer-support network, expanding its world-renowned website, www.youngsurvival.org, and collaborating on vital research studies on breast cancer in young women.

The YSC relies on continued public support to ensure it provides high-caliber programs to the organization's core audience. For every dollar raised, 87 cents goes directly to support these programs and services for this underserved population. The Charity Navigator's 4-star rating assures the YSC's donors their contributions will be used wisely.
