Lady Luck Vegas Casino Night Gala To Benefit Young Breast Cancer Survivors

Kansas City, Mo. (June 11, 2012) — Attendees can gamble for a cause at Young Survival Coalition Kansas City’s fifth annual In Living Pink Lady Luck Vegas Casino Game Night gala on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at The Sheraton, Overland Park. Established in 1998, Young Survival Coalition (YSC) was the first nonprofit organization to focus exclusively on the unique needs of young women affected by breast cancer. The annual event will celebrate 10 years of YSC providing free programming, support and education to young women affected by breast cancer in the Kansas City area. Emmy Award winner and KMBC 9 news anchor Lara Moritz will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.

For the first time, the evening will feature exciting table games including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and more for a chance to win great prizes. The money raised will enable YSC to continue providing programming such as peer support, monthly networking and support groups, as well as Newly Diagnosed Resource Kits (NDRKs) packed with helpful information and educational programs to help young survivors cope with their new normal after a breast cancer diagnosis. Tickets can be purchased online or via mail. Early bird pricing is available for $75 per person through August 24 (while seats are available). Each ticket includes drinks, dinner and $150 in casino play money. Tickets will increase to $100 after August 24. Additional options are available, including sponsorships with access to a private patron’s-only reception. HCA Midwest Cancer Care is a proud sponsor of In Living Pink.

“In Living Pink is a celebration of these inspiring young survivors and their supporters,” explained Jennifer Johnson, Executive Director, YSC Kansas City. “We’re excited to build upon our event by adding exciting charitable casino gaming for prizes. We encourage everyone to come out and take their chances with Lady Luck to raise money for this important cause.”

An inspirational evening with two honorees:

• John Michael Quinn, M.D., renowned reconstructive surgeon, will be recognized with the YSC “You Make a Difference” honor. This award is presented at the annual gala to a medical professional who continually makes a difference in the lives of young breast cancer patients. 
• Brandi Palmer will receive the Jana Peters “Life is Good” honor, which is presented to a young breast cancer survivor who has inspired others by supporting other young women with breast cancer and educating others about good breast health and being their own advocates. 

Survivors will showcase the latest fall trends by local-area boutiques in our fashion show and attendees can purchase a raffle ticket to win a gift card to one of the boutiques. After the program, the Nigro Brothers will kick off a live auction, featuring fabulous items like a week in paradise at Villa Karaway in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (including a gourmet chef) or a dinner for eight at Bonefish Grill, followed by dancing and casino gaming.
