Miami

The emotional support they received from this amazing community of young women at YSC, during their respective treatments and many surgeries, left both of them feeling extremely thankful and inspired "to pay it forward" in some meaningful way.

In the summer of 2007, the Miami affiliate of the Young Survival Coalition was founded to serve as a point of contact for newly diagnosed young women with the goal of reducing the fear, anxiety and isolation that is so often felt in connection with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Recognizing the need for emotional and social support, YSC Miami was established to provide peer support through informal networking meetings, distribute educational information to the recently diagnosed in association with local medical providers, host educational and social programs for survivors and their families and, more broadly, educate the general community about the prevalence of breast cancer in young women and the concerns that are unique to them.
