Newly Diagnosed Kits
Thanks to a generous Komen Grant we have developed a Newly Diagnosed Resource Kit to provide help to those young women just diagnosed. The kits include a Local Resource Guide, the book Fighting for Our Future, a You Are Not Alone DVD and a YSC water bottle all contained in a handy black canvas YSC backpack! These kits have been distributed to breast surgeons and oncologists in the Central Indiana area. Distribution of YSC materials as part of the "Adopt A Hospital" Program
YSC brochures, Young Perspectives Newsletter, Newly Diagnosed Kits, and copies of YSC's DVDs (Breast Cancer Legacy, You are not Alone, and Fighting for our Future) are provided to area hospitals & cancer centers.
Breast Health 101
YSC Central Indiana members go to various young women's group to provide breast health information through this PowerPoint presentation. We also distribute our YSC brochures & other materials and have breast models so participants can actually feel what a lump feels like.
Memorial Tree Program
To honor members who have passed away, YSC Central Indiana will donate $100 towards a tree to be planted by their family.
YSC Members as Part of the Komen Foundation's Speakers Bureau.
The speaker's bureau provides volunteers for meetings, get-togethers, and health seminars for women of all ages who would like to learn more about breast health and activities that the fundraising of breast cancer organizations go toward. YSC's partnership with the speaker's bureau provides young women for speaking engagements that target other young women (high school/college groups, sororities, young mother's groups, etc.)
