Saturday, July 11, 2009 Central Indiana's 2nd Annual Tour de Pink Cycling & Skating Event

YSC Central Indiana's cycling and skating event Tour de Pink will take place at the Major Taylor Velodrome. Participants will ride as part of team in order to reach a goal of 220 laps (five laps equals approximately one mile). For safety reasons, only one cyclist per team will be allowed on the track at a time, for a maximum of 30 cyclists. Teams are welcome to bring their "pit crews" to assist and cheer them on. However, only registered participants will be allowed on the track.

Only road and mountain bikes (no BMX bikes) will be permitted on the track, and only those who complete the rookie training (see schedule below) or those that are experienced Velodrome riders will be able to ride the steep banks of the track. All others will be permitted to ride on the apron or flat part of the track only. All cyclists must be 18 years of age and must wear a helmet.

There will also be a silent auction, stationary bikes/trainers for those unable to ride on the track, music and fun kid's activities including bike safety information and a bike parade at Noon on the Velodrome track. The concession stand will also be open for lunch and snacks.

Registered riders will receive:

  • T-shirt, lunch, snacks and a goody bag
  • A personal fundraising page where your supporters can donate in your name to help you reach your fundraising goal
  • All participants who raise a minimum of $250 will receive an official Tour de Pink cycling jersey

The registration fee is $25 per cyclist ($35, the day of the event). Online registration is now available or you can download and print our brochure to mail in your registration and pledges (mail-in registration deadline is 9/26). Each cyclist is encouraged to raise $100 in pledges and will have a personal fundraising page available after registering. To learn more about the details of this event, please read our event FAQs.

Event Day Schedule:

  • Registration: 7:30 - 8:00 a.m.
  • Rookie Training: 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. (Required for those who have never cycled at the Velodrome.)
  • Opening Ceremony: 9:00 a.m.
  • Track Open: 9:10 a.m. - Noon
  • Lunch Break: Noon - 1:30 p.m.
  • Track Open: 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
  • Closing Ceremony: 4:30 - 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009 YSC Indianapolis 4th Annual "Take a Swing at Breast Cancer" Golf Outing

YSC Central Indiana and Hamilton County MIBOR (Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors) invite you to participate in the 4th Annual Take a Swing at Breast Cancer Golf Outing. This event will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana. We are building on the past years' successes and promise to make this year's golf outing one of your favorites!

Thanks to the support we received the past three years, YSC Central Indiana has been able to expand our services and programs, including educational programs such as Adopt a Hospital, Newly Diagnosed Resource Kits and the Breast Reconstruction Workshops. We provide local resource guides, brochures, educational DVDs and an informative book to young survivors as well as cancer centers, breast surgeons and oncologists in the Indy metro area. Our young survivors speak to local women's groups and participate in health fairs to help spread the word that you're never too young to get breast cancer.

YSC leads the way in educating, advocating and addressing the critical concerns and issues that are unique to young breast cancer survivors and those at risk. Please assist in our efforts again this year to "Take a Swing at Breast Cancer!"

Purgatory Golf Club, rated the #1 course in Indiana and one of the top 100 courses in the country, is proud to host this action-packed event. A shotgun start will be held at 11:00 a.m. with each golfer receiving 18 holes of golf with cart, boxed lunch, buffet dinner, t-shirt, beverages, hole-in-one prize package and goodie bag. Space is limited to 36 foursomes, and a full field is expected, so early registration is required. Sign up before July 1st and get a free SuperTicket…a $25 value!
