The Greater Kansas City Affiliate of the YSC is a very diverse group of individuals. We are made up of survivors, co-survivors and any individuals interested in the issue of breast cancer in young women. We are focused on raising the awareness that young women do get breast cancer and that their issues are unique. This year our main events are a cultivation cocktail party to bring in potential donors and a survivorship event to share new information and recognize long-term survivors.

Meetings are held every 4th Wednesday of the month, either in person or via conference call. Each quarter we get together for a brief meeting followed by some social time. The call is from 7:30-8:15 p.m. CT. Please contact us for call-in information.

Constituents from the Kansas City YSC handed out pink bracelets to kick off breast cancer awareness month at a Kansas City Chiefs game. The national anthem was also sung by a constituent, two-time breast cancer survivor Lisa Covington. Throughout breast cancer awareness month, we helped sell pink t-shirts and hats at games and raised over $10,000 for our organization.
We also participate in local awareness events by having constituents at the K.C. Komen Race for the Cure, Bloch Foundation Cancer Survivorship Event, St. Louis Symposium for Young Women and other ongoing events. Our main goal is to show our local identity while raising awareness of the YSC.
