Stuffing Bags for Newly Diagnosed Patients: Bags contain local support and resources, YANA video and brochure, as well as a Circle Journey conversation kit. These bags are distributed to area hospitals and offices to give to newly diagnosed young women.
We plan on hosting 2 -3 bag stuffing parties and would love your help!
Coordinator for YSC Lecture Series: This educational lecture series involves collaborating with a variety of no-profit groups, hospitals, and medical oncology offices to bring speakers to informal lectures. It will touch on topics specific to breast cancer in young women, but applicable to all ages such as sexuality, fatigue, and employability after cancer. Dates and menus are already set – but we need a volunteer to handle RSVP's and be our YSC "host" on the night of.
"Hosts" for Networking Group at Wellness Community: Each month, we host an informal drop-in group in Dublin. This gives those in treatment the chance to connect to other young survivors, and to learn about the YSC.
Tell Your Story!: YSC in Central Ohio volunteers speak at breast cancer awareness events, medical symposiums, media, and motivational events. This is an excellent opportunity for you to share your story and make a difference.
Educational Booth: The YSC provides educational and support materials at booths and tables at area health fairs, breast cancer walks and other related events. Volunteers learn about our programs and services beforehand, and get to network with others!
Courage Night: Each October this event celebrates the courage of young women living with breast cancer, and honors the memory of those who have lost their battle. Survivors, supporters, and YSC volunteers gather in a night of celebration and remembrance. Volunteers are needed on the night of, as well as in the planning stages.
In Living Pink: This gala event will be our main source of fundraising. Join other YSC volunteers to pull off a special event devoted to raising awareness and funds for our programs and services. Volunteers are needed on the night of, as well as in the planning stages.
