YSC Tour de Pink Duluth Volunteer Orientation

Join us for this orientation meeting where we will give you the details about all of the Tour de Pink Duluth volunteer jobs, the event day schedule, and to discuss any questions you might have regarding volunteering for Tour de Pink Duluth. We will also take the opportunity to discuss volunteering for the Tricia Orlowski Schaeffer memorial After-Party. Dr. Brad Davis, Chair, SMDC Department of Pathology will deliver the YSC presentation Breast Cancer: Understanding Your Pathology Report" Finally, Alane Davis, Program Manager and Survivor, YSC Duluth, will present YSC 101: Young Women Facing Breast Cancer Together. These interactive sessions are designed to address your specific concerns. YSC New York City - Women On Wednesdays

Join us on the third Wednesday of each month as we address concerns specific to young survivors.

YSC Kansas City-Nutrition After a Breast Cancer Diagnosis

6:00-9:00 p.m.

YSC is excited to partner with Turning Point to bring you this informative program on nutrition after breast cancer. Once someone is diagnosed with breast cancer, common questions include: "What should I be eating?", "Is it ok to have a glass of wine or a cheeseburger?", "What about supplements?", "Is there anything I can eat that will help to strengthen my immune system?" In this upbeat, information-packed program, learn the answers to these questions and more! Nan Borchardt, RD, LD, CDE, Registered Dietician and Medical Biochemist will lead this informative session.
A light salad supper will be available from 6:00-6:30 and the program begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.at Turning Point.
This is a FREE program, but space is limited, so RSVP early and no later than September 8th to secure your spot.

Amazon Heart Thunder 2010


Join the Amazon Heart Thunder 2010 motorcycle adventure for breast cancer survivors! Harley-Davidson will once again be providing their fantastic support, loaning us motorcycles for the 1,000 mile, one week adventure of a lifetime. The ride will begin in Los Angeles September 16 and finish in San Francisco on September 25. We are now seeking applicants for riders and support van drivers. The ride is open to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, of any age and stage of your breast cancer journey. YSC Tour de Pink Duluth

7:00 a.m until 6:00 p.m.

As Northern Minnesota's only bike ride for breast cancer, participants enjoy the opportunity to ride from 1 to 100 miles on the beautiful Willard Munger State Trail. The route offers some of the most scenic bicycling available with meticulously maintained trails, beautiful Lake Superior vistas and tree rimmed byways with access for rest stops and aid stations all along the way. YSC Tour de Pink Duluth is designed to highlight the best cycling that Northern Minnesota can offer during the best time of the year to visit the Northland.
With multiple length rides available, the Tour de Pink Duluth promises to please everyone from a hardcore cyclist to a weekend sojourner. Support, rest stops, and beautiful scenery will be plentiful to ensure a day of comfort and fun. The convenience of one of the nation's top cycling trails makes the Tour de Pink route ideal for a day spent shifting gears both on the bike and in your head. If you're up for a challenge, complete the 100 mile "Century to End Breast Cancer" ride. If you're looking for something a little more relaxing, go at your own pace and give our 15 or 30 mile option a try. If you're up for a bit of a challenge without the saddle sores, maybe 60 miles is just your style.

YSC Kansas City- Cancer Awareness Night with the Wizards

6:30-9:30 pm.

Join us for Cancer Awareness night at the Wizards game Saturday, September 25th, 7 p.m. at Community America Ballpark. Invite your family, friends, kids' soccer teams and cheer on the Kansas City Wizards as they match up against FC Dallas. For every ticket sold with our block, YSC will receive a $3 donation and you receive $3 off your ticket. Our seats are located in general admission and provide seating options in two different areas - the grass berm area or in stadium seats in sections 100-103. Kids will get to participate in a human tunnel during the pre-game festivities to welcome the players, so make sure you arrive at the stadium by 6:30 if you want to participate in the pre-game activities.
If you would like to attend with our group to help raise money for YSC while having a fun time, please RSVP with payment of $12 per ticket for by Monday, August 16th with checks made payable to YSC Kansas City. RSVPs after this date cannot be guaranteed to sit with the group. Tickets will be mailed to attendees, so please let us know the number of tickets you need and where to mail the tickets.

YSC Orlando Fun Day on the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour

Arrive at 5:30 pm, Boat ride is 6:00- 7:00 pm

All Aboard!
Come out and join us on the Winter Park Scenic Boat. This is a relaxing, narrated, one hour cruise through the beautiful lakes and canals of historic Winter Park on an 18 passenger pontoon boat. Itīs a great way to see the true beauty of Winter Park which includes Rollins College, Kraft Azalea Gardens, Isle of Sicily, tropical birds, plants, flowers and magnificent mansions.
You are able to bring food and drinks on board, so feel free to do so. Children are welcome to climb on board too!
The boat tours depart at 6:00 pm sharp, so make sure you arrive at 30 minutes prior so you don't miss the boat!
The pontoon boat only fits 18 passengers, so a confirmed RSVP is needed.

YSC NYC: Fertility, Pregnancy and Adoption

6:30-8:30 p.m. EST

YSC NYC and SHARE are excited to present the sixth program in our 2010 Empowerment Series for young women affected by breast cancer.
Reproductive Endocrinologist Glenn Schattman, MD, FACOG will discuss how a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment can affect fertility, how physicians assess fertility status, what assisted reproductive technology options are available after cancer treatment, and fertility preservation prior to treatment. Dr. Schattman is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the New York Presbyterian Hospital — Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Allison Rosen, PhD will discuss the different types of adoption processes such as domestic, international, open or closed and how each varies for individuals affected by cancer. Dr. Rosen is a psychologist at the Fertility Preservation Institute, where she does research and counseling. Her research includes adoption discrimination and the psychosocial needs of people with cancer.
