Our goal is to reach out to young women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, those post-treatment and living with advanced breast cancer, along with the medical community and other breast cancer organizations to decrease the sense of isolation felt by young women affected by breast cancer and create a welcoming and educated community. We participate in many events throughout Columbus and collaborate with various breast cancer groups. We also host monthly support groups, educational and social events and fundraising events.
YSC Central Ohio In Living Pink 2010 - Friday, November 19th, YSC Central Ohio invites you to this year's In Living Pink! Full details here. YSC Central Ohio offers an ongoing support group that will focus on addressing the unique concerns of young women diagnosed with breast cancer. Educational information will also be provided during the sessions. Our goal is to help members to find the tools and resources to live with purpose and joy as they face the challenges of cancer. Meetings will be three times a month, the first three Tuesdays, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Support groups are funded through a grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Columbus). YSC Central Ohio began in 2002 when co-founders Jill Hymer and Anna Cluxton met at the Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer. Jennifer Wolfe joined them in 2003 and began to help build the foundation of volunteers that make up YSC Central Ohio. Soon they developed into a networking group and hosted support groups at a local hospital and the Wellness Community. In 2005, the group officially affiliated with the YSC as the Central Ohio Affiliate.
