YSC is now active in the Chicago area. We are dedicated to supporting young breast cancer survivors in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. We strive to get our community to learn about all of the new programs and services available to young breast cancer survivors and those who support them. We hope you will join us as we grow into a strong group with lots of fun and educational activities, great volunteer opportunities and the ability to meet lots of new friends, all out there supporting each other and the cause.

Please feel free to share this information with other young survivors, your friends and family members and let your doctors/oncologists know that we exist!

Monthly Meetings

Support Group: YSC Chicago is divided into four geographical areas: North (i.e. Lake and McHenry Counties); South (Southern Cook, Will, Kendall, and Kankakee counties); West (DuPage, Kane, and DeKalb counties); and Metro (city of Chicago). Meetings are held at least once every other month in each region. Therefore, we encourage you to look at each affiliate's meeting schedule as it is posted on this site or on our Facebook page.

Meetings are held in restaurants and in parks when weather permits. We are always open to suggestions about where else to meet.

Whether you are recently diagnosed or are years out but now looking to get more involved, this may be your chance to be part of the action!

As YSC Chicago is a new affiliate, we are looking for ways to spread the word about YSC and our monthly networking meetings, which are coordinated as an effort to reduce the isolation commonly felt by young women diagnosed with breast cancer. At this time, we are developing strategies for reaching (a) the media, and (b) hospitals and organizations that might refer young women to YSC.

We are looking for two volunteers willing to do some research (mostly online) and compile a contact list. One volunteer will gather Chicago and suburban media contacts (newspapers, radio, and television, etc.) while the other will gather hospital and organization contacts.
