Flying through the air with tears trickling down my face as I parasailed in Mexico.
I’m invisible. Cancer can’t happen to me. Well, that’s what I thought anyway.
Around September 16th,1995 I was doing a routine check when I felt a small lump in my right breast.
A couple of months after we got married, I noticed what appeared to be a mosquito bite on my skin close to my right breast.
In February of 2002 I had a mammogram because of a lump I had in the opposite breast-that lump turned out to be nothing but the tumor in the other breast I later learned was something.
My story begins on March 29, 2000 when I am nearly 36 years old. I had made an appointment to see my ob/gyn with a complaint regarding soreness in my left breast.
On November 14, 2005, I noticed my left breast was a bit red and warm to the touch.
Things were good. Busy, but good. I had a new career, a new daughter who just turned two and we were in the process of buying a house and hoping to have another baby.
I found a pea-sized lump in 2005 at the age of 32. I went to my PC doctor who told me it was a fibroid cyst. The very next month it started to grow, and I went back to the same doctor who again told me I had nothing to worry about, it was a cyst. Four months later it had grown to the size of a golf ball, so I went to my OB/GYN for a second opinion.
