In April of 2003, a lump was found in my right breast. I immediately contacted my mother, and she advised me to call the doctor first thing in the morning. First thing Monday morning I called the doctor, and they told me to come in immediately. The doctor definitely said she felt a lump and sent me for a mammogram and sonogram ASAP. Well ASAP turned into a three-week wait. And within those three weeks, my boyfriend was gone.
I'll start on January 29, 2001. I was just sitting around chatting with my husband Mel. I had a dull pain high up on my right breast. I instinctly reached up to 'rub out' the pain. That was when I felt 'it.'
I had a baby Feb 1999, at the young age of 21. I nursed for 6 weeks then off and on for 6 months. 6 months after that I felt a lump and had discharge from my nipples.
To be honest, I was probably a little overconfident when it came to my health.
I was 34 years old and 21 weeks pregnant when diagnosed with Stage II invasive breast cancer on October 10th, 2001.
I had my first scheduled baseline mammogram in July 2002 at age 35 and everything was normal. Then in February 2003 my husband found a small lump.
In April of 1988, at 24 years of age, I was diagnosed with stage I breast cancer of the left breast.
